What's the best tyres......

Post by jromaines » Wed Apr 20, 2005 8:28 pm

This is bound to give loads of different answers but what are the best tyres to fit to a 480? Currently I have 1 Bridgestone and 1 Avon (ZZ1 perhaps?) and 2 cheapo's - I didn't know that the Ukraine made tyres!!

I'm only going to be doing about 5k in the car every year as I use the train during the week (don't fancy driving into London!) and at the moment I haven't got much cash... that's the constraints.. I look forward to reading your replies!!

Cheers!!

Here it goes again...! Well I personally like the Goodyear Eagle Ventura's. They came on the car and i have tried to replace them with the same when i can. I order them from http://www.mytyres.co.uk/ and they are about half the price you'd pay in a tyre fitters. Look good as well on my standard wheels. They are a directional 'V' tread. At the moment, got talked into buying some FateO tyres on the rears as had a puncture that couldnt be repaired and that's all they had. They look shit and were pretty slippy on the back. Stuck them on the front to wear them down quicker!

Tyres come down to personal choice.

Depends what you want, long life or grip.

If you want long life gor for pirelli p6000 or p7000

If you want max grip then Toyo TS-1 or TR-1 of Goodyear Eagle F1.

Really is a case of pays ya money and take ya choice.

I love my Toyo Proxes, it handles like a different car since i fitted them. Better to have max safety and enjoyment and replace a little more often, i think. :D

I have just got 4 nankang ns2(summer tyre) they were £100 for four and they look good, i will comenet on grip later on. The tred patern is also delightfull. Mytyres is where i got them great deal i think, but remember to cost in fitting cos its likley to around 20-50 squid. If the they wear out fast who gives a fuck at £28.80 delivered to yeah door.

I am a sucker for Yokohama and esecially the A539, just to dam expensive.

Toyo proxes
Kumho 712
Goodyear F1
Falken-Ohtsu (do some gangster tred patterns)

All are gona do the job its to you now, but i do suggest runing around the http://www.mytyres.co.uk/Tyres.html site first.

I've used them on other cars and found them a bit noisy. But they look damn good and perform well.

I've got 4 horrible Champiro tyres to wear down ASAP :(

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to go for the Toyo's - looks like the right combination of ££ and performance for me!
