Tyres. Goodyear eagle F1

Post by lee » Tue Dec 14, 2004 12:51 pm

I have recently gone up to 17inch wheels but only because the tyres i wanted was not available in 15 inch.

The tyres i have gone for are 205/40/17 GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 (NEW TREAD PATTEREN). The reason i went for these tyres over all other makes and brands is that i went out in a T5 with these tyres on and we went round a island at 70mph yes 70mph and it was geasy out there at the time. Everything else on the T5 was standard.

Last night it was wet outside and approaching freezing and i took a friend out to show him my chip. So as the come around the corner the last thing you want is for the turbo to spool as you will go straight, but know quite the opposite happen it just gripped and f%*ked off down the road without as much as a wheel spin.

Highly recommended

This is so very true plus they also look the part. I had these on my 850 and they stuck like egg to a plate or s*!t to a blanket - which ever you prefer. Go forth and buy your F1's people...

they are not cheap martin. The average quote i got for 205/40/17 was 120 per tyres. I managed to pick up 4 from a shop not ebay or mail order for 300 fitted. Thats a mere 75 per tyre

If they wear well then ok, Do they come in 215/40/17? 215 fit the fronts right?

my rims are the same width as your 7.5X17. So i phone the manufacter of the wheels and said what tyres. They said 205/40/17. They said if you are running 7X17 or 7.5X17 205's fit. They said the minium for 7X17 is 195 and the min for 7.5X17 is 205.

The problems you have i have not got even when on full power in a corner.

I do however have scrubbage on the rear left wheel due to the panard rod. As its lowered 40mm

215 is scrubage territory mate, i remember with 205's on my 16"s was a close fit.

I have yet to see Lee's motor, must plan a visit.
