Tips on removing rear spring suspension

Hi guys,
Last month I decided do swap the suspension springs on the '91 turbo.
The front ones went withou many issues.
However the rear ones are proving to be harder than I thought.
I'm having troubles disconnecting them from the rear axle. There is a bump stop holding them which i cannot remove. On haynes manual it says there is a retaining pin but I do believe that it is for older models.
Does anyone have any tips? Is it based on force? Or is there a trick?
