Check your nuts!

Post by red480gt » Thu Feb 12, 2004 8:33 pm

Just had my car in for a clutch fitted as i said in past post, only to find when my tyres where changed a few months ago they didnt put the wheel nuts on properly.

One nut was in at an angle, and two where over tightened, complained at my tyre place but they didnt want to know, they said it was the garage that did the clutch. Tyre guy said his highly trained chimps only use torque wrenchs and wouldnt do that. (apologies to tyre fitters but these guys didnt look that highly trained (now i looked, previously i dropped off and picked up the car))

The moto of this tale "check your wheel nuts after getting work done"

I remember on my old for fiesta, after having new tyres fitted, they had put the wheel nuts on one wheel on upside down. So sharp edges were touching the steel, and not the tapered cup. Made a right mess. The final push needed to get alloys if i remember rightly. Useless C@*ts.
