From what I remember, there are two different types of bump stops. The earlier type are 'stalagmites', and the later type are 'stalactites'.

Image

My first 480 had the earlier style, and when I fitted my 40mm springs, I didn't have to cut them down at all. My second 480, which I tansfered the 40mm springs to had the later type, and they had to be cut down, to stop the car sitting on the bump stops.

By the way.... I have a set of KYB K-Force 30mm drop springs that I bought for my last 480, but didn't get round to fitting before selling it. I bought them second hand, but the seller claimed they'd only been used for 2000 miles.

Anyone want to make me an offer?

Ben.

(image borrowed from t'internet, but I imagine this is what they look like - i've never even taken them out the box!)

I can rate those, same as i had. Catgroom commented how they handled well, but still gave me sufficient comfort.

ahhhh

So on your car they were mounted on the bodytub but on mine
they are mounted on the beam... explains why the ones you sent
me looked utterly different!

Us rookies learn something new every day

Still no picture.. I didnt get out of work till dark :(

Yep, mine are the Stalactite styles. So that explains why they are different!

Nice diagram by the way.

I though it was a better idea not to create a new topic on a already existing subject :|

Sorry for that!
