Tyre Novice

First of all, apologies for asking some basic questions, but I really have no idea when it comes to tyre sizes.

1. My 480 has Taurus alloys on it - am I right in thinking these are 15 inch diameter? I would go and check, but my wife has my car today and I am using her Skoda.

2. At the moment I have 185 wide tyres - when I replace them can I fit wider tyres to the same wheels? For some reason I assumed that a given wheel had a prescribed width of tyre and to go wider would mean replacing the wheels. Am I completely wrong?

195/55/15 will be fine, 205/55/15 will rub on full lock & rear ever so slightly.
