Max wheel size?

Post by 98kellrs » Sun Dec 03, 2006 12:40 am

Just wondering..what do you think is the widest wheel size you could fit in those arches before they started to rub under full lock?

I'd quite like a nice fat set of 215's to fill the arches out a lil better as my 185s are just too skinny..! :kill:

205/45-17s rub on full lock.

Makes no odds really.

You'd probably just about get away with 205/40-17

really? Grr, I have a phobia of skinny tyres! Right! Next project will be custom wheel arches to fit 245/40 - 22's then!

Its not so much the front wheels to worry about, as the back ones.... you will get rubbing on the back with 205-45/16's

14" information. 215/60 at rear on 14x6 are fine. At front I have 205/60. My car is a 2.0l GT.

Wanted to know how a Volvo 480 would look with original Pontiac Fiero Gt -85 wheels(14x6 215/60).

Anyhow, going back to Taurus or Vega´s after having them refurbiched. Anyone having had refurbiched their Volvo alloys?

they look really awesome Anton, they fill the arches nicely! I'll be changing the wheels for 16/17's I think, and lower profile tyres also, but the width looks really good! I love a bit of girth ;)

Yes, and Edd and 98Kellrs both have 1992 Paris Blue ES's.

So on the balance of possibilty, considering mine rubbed with 15's on, and I have seen evidence of slight rubbing on cars with standard wheels on (this is why they changed the shape and design of the rollover valve in the drivers rear wheel arch for the 15" wheels) I would say he will.

The interesting thing there is my install was on a turbo and theirs are ES's.

Are the tracks different on the turbo and ES models?

Depends on the brakes you got on the front. The first 14" Pollux rims don't fit the later models with the vented disks.

Wait, let me see if I got this straight:

Pollux 6J x 14'' = good for ventilated discs?

Pollux 5,5J x 14'' = no good for ventilated discs?
