lowering and camber adjustment

Post by Murf » Thu Apr 20, 2006 6:08 pm

Ive lowered my turbo 40mm and this will have thrown the camber out, visibly it looks different!
theres 2 options:
drill new holes and locate the topmounts further inboard
fit camber adjustment bolts

i dont want to do the 1st option as it would look terrible and i havent looked into getting adjustment bolts but has anyone else addressed this issue and what were the results?

this is what i mean by camber adjustment bolts

http://www.twosrus.co.uk/product_info.p ... cts_id=169

there is a bit machined out of the middle to allow some movement of the lower stub axle assembly, relative to the damper.
i have a set of these on my window ledge, if anyone has the measurements of the standard bolt (bolts the damper onto the stub axle) i could compare them to these to see if they fit.

Hi Paulo!

I have been running a set up just like this for nearly 100000 miles now!

All I did to stop the camber angle being too detrimental to tyre wear was to have my tracking toeing in 2 degrees.

I was happy to leave the camber as the "splatted look"!!!!

It obviously helps with cornering and the tyre wear?Hmmph,I happily still get at least 70k from a set of Pilots.

Hope this helps, even though Im sure youll wanna play with adjustableness!

And who can blame ya!

Doesn't the 480 have front camber adjustment?

Cheers

5k was the record for a set of Eagle F1's!

got about 8-9k from the pilots and BF goodriches.
The handling response and poise is better now I've unlowered it.
Edd has also unlowered his.....That I wasn't expecting, given his response to me doing mine, till he rode in it.

@ Murf- now you know why i never wanted (and still don't want to) drop by 40mm! Seemed too much after i read stuff like that linked above.

Still banking on 25mm max!

Anyone subscribe to the bigger (16") wheels idea rather than the drop to fill out those roomy arches?

I am looking for a 25 - 30 mm drop also. Does anyone know where I can get them from.

As for the bigger wheels if your are not going to go for lower profile tyre and effectivly make a larger wheel, which sounds like your idea, you would actually decrease your accelaration!!! But but you may increase mpg.

take a look at my other post in the general section. Apparently a 20mm drop but when it was first fitted it looked more like 50!!! After about 2 days it got the stance its at now and I started running 17s without a problem.... but its only ran about 100 miles and still bedding in if you ask me
