stabiliser link bar(anti roll things:)

Post by billy5000 » Wed Apr 05, 2006 1:14 am

Hi all

afew months or so back i got my 480es two tone through its MOT.

well during this MOT one of the guys checking its suspension had his crowbar here and there, but while shoving it under the front wheels the car made a spine tingling noise like a load crack!!! and the main guy shouted for his maty to stop.
the main guy did nothing to check what had happed so that was that.

they both saw me watching and cringing:)::)

a day later the car developed a nasty grindy crunchy noise from the front end around the drivers side(i thought anyway)but turned out it was a satbiliser linkage on the passenger side, but while fixing this i found my wishbone has a joint out:(later!! ummmmm

after being quoted £117 for engine mounts(another garage:( im happy it wasnt but the MOT garage did help after i went in and ran through the situ and it was them that found the linkage bar.

offerd to fix for 22 squids but did it myself anyway as it wasnt as bad as i had been told(engine mounts etc)

as i was about to leave the lifter failed and my baby(480)got stuck and i almost had an octavia to thrash(drive i mean!!:):)
but i turned it down for a lift home but as i was preparing to go my baby started to lower down:)she missed me!!hehe

but linkage was easy and found a good seller on snebay which are thicker and stronger and cheap so take a look, they work great because, despite a wishbone bush out, it has from what i can tell made my baby smooth again and i love its shiny gold new link bar

now i gotta get one for the other side to even its look:):)

hope ive ranted with a purpose :):):)

(piccy is of old bar which seems bent too:)
the rubber wasnt broke but the inners were shot so i asume the greese came out the top or just dry`d:)

link bars on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... RK:MEWN:IT

funny just looked at the ebay piccy and the actual bar(i bought and fitted) seems shorter and looks a lot less cheap as the ebay pic, plus they fit like a glove as long as you brace the link bar its connected to when you replace.

Hey Billy, bit mad round your local garage!

Lucky that your two tone didn't kill you off....
Those things are drop links, not ARB.
So you think the one you bought is better than the original? That's good news!
