Possible CV probs

Post by Big Brother » Sat Mar 04, 2006 3:45 pm

Yesterday a loud knocking developed from the front passenger side of the ES. I checked this morning to see if the wheel bearing was knackered but this seems to be ok. I had this problem on my Mazda 323 and it tuned out to be the CV joint but could it also be a suspension problem?

Cheers

Broken CV joint, I mean the outer one, behaves like machine gun while turning. When going streight it's ok, no sound at all.
The inner one if is broken makes vibrations.
Check CV joints boots to see if they're not torn, if they are you can be sure CV joint is dead.
no car, why drive a car if you can fly SAAB

I've had this odd noise, could be descibes as a machine gun when on full lock. I guess thats a CV joint? It's been like it for almost 2 years, and don't know how long on previous owner. Never failed an MOT on it and still works. Should I be looking to get a replacment, not that I could afford it!

Wheel bearings can often make noises before becoming so bad that they develop play...so don't necessarily discount it.
