How do I know that my shox are def worn out?
Now then!
I have had these black Bilsteins on 2 different 480Ts for about 80+ thousand miles now.
When Ive taken them out to change springs over years theyve always had good pressure in them.BUT,Im obviously not a test-rig.
I dont want to waste money on new shocks, and its hard to tell whether theyre buggered or not by simply bouncing the wing to see if they come back for a second bounce as I have PI springs so they wont anyway!!!
So,how do I tell? They really dont seem too bad but not as new obviously.
Steve.

Bounce test is usually the tell tale - when the front shocks on my MG went you got sea-sick when ever you went over a grid.
With the lowered/hardend springs I should think the car would 'jarr/smack' more when you hit a pothole as although the lowered spring would take the travel out of the suspension - the shocker wouldn't be able to cushion the.... shock/impact.
Hope you get it sorted amigo.
Stu.

Well they were a little worn, after 90000 miles they should be n all!
The nearside rear one was partially seized, not any more though!
Really good shocks to use the black Billies. They stood the test of time extremely well!
I have Boge/Sachs on front now and excellent Monroe Sensatrac on the rear which apparently have a valve which self adjusts inside, hmmmmm!!!!!!!
Thx Pol!
