Rear shocks are easy, and if I’m saying that it must be a fuckin easy job
Anyway take the wheels off, see a bolt at each end of the shocks, get a spanner round the back of the bottom bolt to hold the nut otherwise it will jut turn and not undo.
If they have been in for a while they will probably be a bit tough to get out but with a little gentle persuasion they will come out. To fit the new ones press them together (for lack of a better phrase) so they are fully compressed and then try to get them in before they open out again.
I know it’s a sketchy description but its still too early in the morning for me to be thinking technical.
Anyway these 2 pic on my website show the before and after when I changed my shocks http://www.volvo480wales.com/MRM/shocks.htm
Good luck

Okay, the rear springs are also easy.
Undo the rear shocks at the bottom end or remove completely
Loosen the front nut/bolt on the radius arm, drop it down and remove spring.
With front ones, loosen and remove wheels, remove the nuts fro anti-roll bar links and push them out of the strut.Remove bolts from top suspension mount.Using coil spring compressor clamps, clamp the spring using at least 2 of these clamps.Take up the tension in the springs until they move around loosely on your strut.remove the 2 strut nuts/bolts.Replace these with new Volvo ones for re-fitting.Take out your strut assembly. Then loosen large top nut in middle of top mount whilst gripping flats of shock absorber piston with grips.Lift off top mounts, pull spring free, and your shock.
That is right isnt it chaps???Dont think Ive missed anything out!!
Hope it goes okay!
Steve.
