Post by martinholmesuk » Tue Jul 19, 2005 7:12 pm

I changed the two front anti roll bars day :D £24 inc VAT from GSF. The old one's where not very good condition.

The drive feels much better now. Much better on the corners and firmer streering

Mart,
I noticed that on the photos of your old ones, the bottom one in the pic has a kink in it.Did that one comeoff the drivers' side and should it be like that???

Feel silly asking really but mine was bent on drivers side when I took mine out to change them too.The new drivers side one was straight.Mine were also from GSF.

Hmmmm! :?

Surely unless the ball joints on your link rods are f'ed new ones won't make any difference - any car I've had lets you know when they need done by a characteristic knocking when going over bumps or cornering.

Has anyone ever heard of an after-market anti-roll bar for the 480?

Eibach don't seem to do one and I haven't found any information from anyone else. I'm sure a beefier ARB would make cornering on standard springs much better whilst keeping more comfort over the bumps.

@ Groom, I bent it by accident when removing it. They should not be bent like the old one was.

 yeh they're definately drop links Martin! The antiroll bar is the sprung steel bar that goes across the car. It is joined to the drop links each side and mounted on clamped rubber blocks to the body. As the body of the car rolls the motion is opposed by the antiroll bar twisting along its length much like a torsion bar.

I've done a bit of research on antiroll bars and poly bushes (give stiffer more responsive handling)... Haven't found any aftermarket antiroll bars, so if anyone has had better luck i would certainly be interested.

As for poly mounting bushes this was a similar result...No direct replacements and there is no universal ones that even come close! Oh yeh and if you wanna change the front antiroll bar, thats an engine out job pretty much! Mounting bolts are still impossible to get to! :kill:
