Broke drive shaft (but in a weird place)
Going round the roundabout a bit too quick went to spin the wheels but becoz i got new Toyo tyres last week they gripped and put too much stress on the drive shaft. I heard a crack and then went to break and they didn't work too well and then heard real bad squeeking. Opened up the center cap and the hub nut and about half an inch of the thread came out with the washer!!! Can i not just change the end or do i have to change the whole drive shaft? Thanks Shamir.

Did exactly the same a couple of months ago! Wasn't driving hard either, was actually reversing. The squeaking you hear is your brake disk getting shreadded by the caliper!
I changed the whole driveshaft with a scrap one. But... you can just buy the outer CV joint new from GSF or similar. I wouldnt recomend driving it, wait and see how the wheel feels when you jack it up! Quite surprising they can break off as it is a pretty think thread of metal. All I can think is if the nut worked loose a bit... Which side has it happened to out of interest. Mine was the gearbox fed side.

It was the near side, i manged to get the AA out and they got it to my favourite garage with the front two wheels in the air, (I am also their favourite customer since i bought the 480, for some strange reason!) I spoke to Euro parts this morning and they done me a great deal the outer CV joint and oil filter delivered for free to my garage for £66 inc VAT. Driving a Saab 900 xs till saturday it's nice but so slow in comparision, I MISS MY 480 TURBO!!!! Shamir.
