Yes!
Scored big time at the scrappy today, Murf and i went up and found an M reg 440.
Went to get the panhard rod and fook me, when we'd gotten it off it looked BRAND NEW!
Even the Volvo parts sticker was still white.
£5!!
Believe Murf got some drop links too, also looked new- not really sure if he paid for those
Anyway it's now on the ES and she seems to be fine.
I think it's too good and might put it on the Turbo....
Murf has a pic of the warped rod and it's sparkling clean replacement, i'm sure he'll be nice and post it.
No more accidents!
BTW thanks for the answers, and does anyone know how much a panhard rod is new from Volvo?

Ah, that makes sense. Didn't think about the fact that the car would be set up for the most common situation.Murf wrote: the towing pack has longer and stiffer spring which raise the height of the rear of the vehicle therefore the PH rod needs to be longer
But that means that if you intend to do A LOT of towing, like a caravan trip (maybe not in the 480 though), then you should ideally use a standard PH rod to keep the rear axle in its optimum position.
I wonder what weight the standard PH rod is set to provide optimum tracking for - with or without passengers?

I must admit, i very nearly did the sam ething tonight....
Wasn't raining, wasn't cold (8degC) and i wasn't pushing it, but on the roundabout coming out of the industrial estate i ended up in a brief four wheel drift.
The only thing i can think of is one of the lorries had left some diesel there....

Living in Somerset we get the new trial sticky grit. It's Molasses mixed with rock salt, the idea being that it won't wash away, and is cheaper as well.
That's what all the brown icky stuff that sticks to your car is
They stoped using it recently because it makes the road slipery.
