Top shock mounts rebuild

Hi guys,

I recently discovered that my top shock mounts were just about shot, so I need to do something about that.

What do you guys think of replacing the rubber bushing with a spherical plain bearing instead, like the one shown here:http://www.wiberger.se/templates/lankhuvuden_glxs.htm

I've got a lathe and welding gear, so mechanically I should be able to pull it off without too much hassle.
