Volvo 480 Club Europe

Afternoon all,

Does anyone know where I can purchase the rear Torque rods or the bushings themselves if they are interchangeable ?

I'm struggling to find anything in this country

Any help much appreciated.

Volvo never sold the bush separately. Complete torque rods are the only way.

And yes, skandix / Poland are the main sources....

How desperate are you for them?

I too am trying to avoid EU postage at the moment until things sort themselves out.

GizFab has just started to make the > adjustable ones < which I think 16vCranna commissioned and has fitted. I'm not sure if they are a direct for OE supplement. Perhaps they might look too jazzy to some. They also don't have the ABS studs. Not the end of the world to just cable tie your ABS wiring to them. Depends where you are on the originality front.

Skandix stock levels are high.... but EU postage is a nightmare right now. Might be worth asking them about their UK post experiences thus far.

I read somewhere that it is only parcels TO the EU that are a nightmare due to them introducing all the new forms the day after we left. Parcels FROM the EU are ok as we havent implemented the new systems yet - due 1st April so best to order now before the import duties get slapped on

That's what I thought, but I went to Skandix postal rates and GB has jumped to €60

For Skandix to post to China is cheaper

Sounds like Skandalous Skandix taking advantage of unsuspecting British

I ordered From Skandix in early January and although postage is now 60 euros and not 18, it was still sent via DHL tracked and was here in 3 or 4 days as before.

Polar Parts are the next option but just checking their store and getting a shipping estimate at checkout, it now says will not ship to UK. But, on thier eBay, it's not said no yet (I imagine it may once it comes to actually paying perhaps?). Perhaps worth a message?

R&D Car parts are a bit useless too. I placed an order with them and never heard a thing. It didn't take payment but said the order had been placed. Nothing happened after that.

Volvofan on eBay were not posting from Poland due to the postal services putting a ban on UK mail, could have changed now? Again, worth a message.

I'd say Skandix is the only hope to just get what you want within a reasonable time.

I have been shipping things round the world for work while in the UK. My advice would be to only send or receive anything with a shipper that remains the same throughout the shipping process.

E.g. DHL and FedEx have been fine as they take responsibility in both origin and destination country. Parcelforce on the other hand have “partner agents” which means they don’t really have control of the whole process.

I have had a 100% fail rate with ParcelForce (to The Netherlands and UAE).

I have had 100% success rate with FedEx (Canada)

I have had a 100% success rate with DHL (Switzerland and Saudi Arabia).

So... my money would be on Skandix, but make sure of their shipper.

That's interesting James, we have heard horror stories about DHL getting it wrong in the past

I'm not that desperate at the moment although it is the only parts I'm missing now, I've got everything for the rear of the car suspension wise but somehow managed to overlook these rods. I will be looking to get it finished in the next couple of weeks, checked over, then in for MOT.

They should indeed work in replacement of standard items and should be able to set them to the legnth of standard units

what are option for the rear trailing part? , the one that goes up to the rear of the car (at bumper)

I know Fraser had some GUCCI ones, but for us lesser mortals with a 'standard' car... (other than SKANDIX)

yes tried them, there is an option from Poland , but wanted to avoid any 'importation issues'...

I suspect the need is more steel, than bushes
I have PU bushes cut from a sheet of PU and wasgoing to make spacer tubes

Items arrived without any real problem with customs/import etc, (from VolvoFan) other than a wee hold-up , probably due to some issues with the main road from Dundee to Aberdeen being closed for a few days.

only issue now will be removing the old ones, I only ever got one of the four bolts freed when tidying up the bumper etc

I suspect much cutting /destruction will be in order, angle grinder for slicing open the bushes at wheels and the 'sabre saw' to chop through the rear bolts
unless any better ideas .. . .
