Centre Cap Stickers

Post by Matt Columbo » Fri Apr 24, 2020 8:01 am

Hello all,

I'm new here having recently acquired a wedge in need of recomissioning. In my search for spares I stumbled across this:

https://www.ladesivo.com/home/275-volvo ... epoca.html

Volvo 480 Centre Cap stickers. I believe they have recently started making them but I could be wrong.

My centre caps are a disgrace so I'm going to put an order in tonight. They are €18.50 for a set of 4 plus €15 postage.

I have no idea about the quality or if they are reflective. I'm going to try a set anyway.

It will be several months before I get to the wheels on my car, so you may be waiting a while for a review. If anyone wants a set and is willing to share the postage costs to the UK let me know. I'll be putting an order in for myself tonight regardless but thought I'd offer.

Cheers all,
Matt

Welcome to the club and the wonderful if challenging wedgie world. You will find loads of help from friendly fellow enthusiasts here and maybe next year we'll see you and your 480 at a meet.

Well, just to advise, I’ve got production ready to roll as soon as we’re out of lockdown.
I’ve checked and double check mine Taurus centres and they’re a reflective material (hence my question on the Facebook post). Reflective vinyl is what pushes the price up as it’s an expensive material. Once the printers return, I can probably get comparative quotes.

Ah, sorry I had no idea. I'll hold off then. I didnt mean to tread on anyone's toes.

I've read so many different threads recently about all the issues my car has I must have missed it if you've already posted that you're making these on here. I don't use Facebook so I haven't seen any posts.

Cheers,
Matt

Welcome Matt, what variety of wedge have you purchased? And what’s to do on it?

Not all of them had those, my Pollux wheels on my '88 have moulded logos, rather than a sticker

Are these just for Taurus then?

Cheers,
Please don’t let me put you off ordering! I positively welcome competition! Heck, if they’re good and cheaper than I could do, then it’s one less thing for me to worry about.

I queried the Facebook post because I’m convinced the originals (which are silk screen printed) are reflective. Take a photo of the car at night and you’ll see. However, I was told that a) I’m wrong and b) these were stencils not stickers. Could just be a language thing of course....

Even if it was a stencil and not a sticker, the latter may be a sensible upgrade, and the reflective a nice subtle non-standard touch

Cool, I'll have a think. Now I know someone is doing a proper job I think I'll be disappointed with anything less.

Thanks to you and others for the welcome. It's a '93 turbo manual. It's easier to list what is working which is the info centre(!) and the power train seems in fine fettle. I'll start a separate thread at some point with the journey to road worthy!

The one painted matt black? No not that one. I'd be more descriptive but truth is I haven't finished looking around mine yet.

In the nicest possible way - Don't start with the wheels! I'm fairly certain you'll be finding PLENTY of other things that are more pressing before worrying about wheels!

Add them to the list sure, but I'd say they're more "end game" than starters!
