Power steering Fluid

Seen a lot of references on here saying it's Dexron 2;

However, I've just checked the manual and it's saying use ATF type F or G. I believe the basic difference is that type F contains no friction modifiers.

Anyone else topped up/flushed their power steering and if so, what did you use?

I have always used ATF, and remember years ago seeking confirmation from my then-local Volvo dealership that it was indeed the correct stuff to use.

Have found actual type f fluid - it’s about the same price as the others, just have to wait for delivery.....

Will probably play safe and stick to what the book says!

I think that 'ATF' is just a catch all, Auto Transmission Fluid, kinda like saying 'engine oil' :wink:

it's the code 'F' or 'G' etc that determines which type you need, similar discussion on te ScimWeb forum regarding BW 35 vs Ford C3

if the puddle is red then power steering fluid, blue/green is anti freeze, black is engine ;)
