Power Steering Pump

Post by 100 » Wed Sep 26, 2018 4:41 pm

Hi all,

My 480 is currently at the Swedish Car Clinic awaiting an MOT and a new steering pump, they've had trouble sourcing one, that being said could someone advise me on the correct type so that I can find one online somewhere? They've had three new pumps in from the likes of eurocarparts etc. to no avail, I think they have exhausted their list of suppliers and have now given me the responsibility, which I have subsequently passed on to Jaster! :D

It's non-AC if that makes a difference?

Thanks,

Oli

Got a pic?

I'd have thought the only difference was AC or not!

I have identified the following two candidates, both for cars without air-con:

VIN to 428729:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-440-46 ... SwVtZaBzB2
Part numbers: 3413725, 4700031, 26039589

VIN from 428730:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-440-48 ... SwvR5aBFMA
Part number: 3470031

Not sure how that matches up with our chassis numbers, which start at 500000. The part number starting with 3 in either case looks like the right kind of format, but so far I haven't been able to match any of them up in VIDA or the parts book.

They are likely 440/460 chassis numbers. Maybe play about with them on Skandix?

Tried that - can't find any mention of a PAS pump on Skandix and none of the part numbers lead anywhere either. Not much gleaned from searching the forum either. Very strange that there's so little info on it.

Apparently I didn't look very hard then! Interestingly both the part numbers in the book don't seem to correspond to anything on VIDA, even though I can see the pump clearly in the diagrams. They just don't have associated numbers for some reason. Either way, looks like 3470031 is probably the one to go for in this case.

Mister Auto seem to have new pumps (choice of 4) with different pulley widths.‎

By the way, when you get to changing the pump, book says the correct fluid is Dexron 2.‎ Just replaced mine last night.
