Can anyone tell me the length of the stock front damper? Got some coilies here and I'm just measuring them up.. And also I notice a kind of linkage mechanism on the back of the base of the damper.. what's this?

Funnily enough yesterday I bought two front shocks from Volvo. Would you like a pic with a tape measure next to them before they go in?

For everyone's reference, the Volvo ones are stamped Volvo and Monroe.

I would absolutely love you to take a photo with a tape measure next to them! It would be insanely helpful!

Hope this is, eventually, of some use. The unloaded length looks to be spot on 20".

This is a brand new part, made by Monroe for Volvo. Part number is 30652239.

I have no idea why the image above is cropped. If you click on it Rob, you will see the few inches to the right, showing it at 20" extension.

Also, do you need the rear shock absorber measured and photographed?

This is a KYB Gas-A-Just, part number 553169 for the rear. Unloaded length

Unloaded length is 18in.

Nope, a scrapper at Lake's Volvo.

Not tried mine yet, can't imagine them being much good though to be honest.

Might have to modify them slightly first!

To be honest, they're shit but a nice gimmick. Speaker size is obsolete too so no upgrade.

Amazing! Thanks so much! The coilover I have measures 19.5" so that's not so far off.. the back might require a bit more though though haha!
