Any tips on how to remove the ball joint nut? It looks like it's rusted on, and I reckon I'll need to change it soon..

if you can't get it off by the heat and hit method then your only option is to remove the knuckle assembly (use good qual. hex sockets on the strut and bottom ball joint-wishbone bolts) so you can access the thing properly and try a single hex socket with a breaker bar or failing that grind the thing off.
It's always a good idea to soak with wd40 or similar a few days prior to removal, does help, trust me. something like loctite freeze and release is always handy too, not cheap but can be a valuable asset for such things. Hope this helps.
I would advise fitting new nuts and bolts on reassembly where possible too, zinc plated or stainless are good. Use at least an 8.8 grade, preferably 10.9 or 12.9 for high stress applications.
