Power Steering Cooler; Have you got one on yours?

Post by suddy » Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:18 pm

I've got a power steering cooler pipe on my 95 2.0 with AC.

It's getting a bit corroded at the bottom (not visble in the pictures) and I could do with another.

Phoned volvo up today to try and get one, and they said that they only have a cooler pipe listed for the Turbos, and that my 2.0 shouldn't have one!

My question is; Are other 2.0 models fitted with the pipe? Maybe Celebration owners could answer that one.. And (although I don't expect so), has mine been retrofitted with a cooler at some point in its life?

That's odd. It looks as if it's been fitted in the factory and is a proper (not aftermarket) part.

Even the hose clips and unions are the manufacturer type, and it's secured properly. I can't believe that it has been retrofitted..

Was the cooler fitted to the later 440/460? Maybe they were only fitted to very late 480s and the late 440/460s? Mine is chassis no 591999. So it could be an 'undocumented' change...

So the next question is: What is the part number, then I can buy a new one for Volvo?
Can anyone help?
Perhaps I could make one?

Just checked today in bright sunlight and yes the car I am breaking does have one of these pipes and it is an N reg 95 celeb (2ltr).

Yes it appears to be in good condition and of course I can supply that part if you need it.

I havent looked under the car at the other end of the pipe to see the best place to separate it.

Would you mind to have a see if it's not rusty underneath first, in all cases I've got a standard pipe from the scrapyard so if mine corrodes too much, I can swap it over.

There's a hose clip there too where you can seperate the cooler pipe if it turns out to be okay.
