Having just moved with garage kit not up to speed, visit to USA in two days I used a mobile auto guy to change the steering pump on my TT.
On the TT the pump is buried under the alternator but on Air Con (or at least the GT I sold) the pump is at the top.
When the guy had change everything and tried to line up the belt it wouldn't. The pulley on teh 'new' pump sticks out further than the other one and on examination you can see the difference in depth of the retaining bolt / star drive.
The guy sheared his torx shaft trying to remove the pulley retaining bolt.
Does anyone know if it is right hand or left hand thread or how to do it.
I notice in the 'how to' section that the same question is asked.
PAS pump - steering pump pulley problem.
