shaft? bearing? i dont know

I THINK this is the right place to put this

Driveshaft vrs Wheel Bearing ... now i know ONE of them is gone but i dont have the experteese(sp) do know which

its a constant loud rubbing noise coming from my drivers front wheel ish area.. when i turn left it goes away but when i turn right the noies is insane

is there any way of working which it is withouth buying the parts?
the bearing isnt expensive but i aint shedding 100 quid for a shaft if its not it

please help :P

it sounds more like a wheel bearing has gone. jack the front of the car up and grab the wheel at 12 and 6 oclock and try and shake it in and out. if there is a lot of movement then the wheel bearing is gone.
