Creeking when steering and shaking at high speed!

Post by 480 Tatey » Fri Apr 25, 2008 8:31 pm

Hi guys and girls,
My car is making a creeking noise from the front left wheel area inder steering eg reverse parking and turning into sharp corners and also setting off from stationary. Also the car shakes or vibrates badly at high speed. Any ideas?

Thanks
Owen

The shaking is probably your wheel balancing easy repair just take it to any tyre place. The creaking is prob best to have someone turn the wheel while you try and trace the noise.

The creaking is probally anti roll bar links rods about £13 each on the front one each side of the car and easy enough to fit like 20 mins a side or less .

take the wheel off and if when you grab and rock the anti roll link bar it clicks then it needs replacing. some people call an anti roll link bar a DUMBELL because it looks slightly similar. p.s no independant garage should charge more than £30 to fit them and if they do go elsewhere...

cheers
140mph for £175 just test the brakes

Got the wheels balenced and the vibration is not as bad, but the creeking is still occouring and when i took it in for the last service they reported that everything was fine with the steering and all components around the wheels eg rods, bearings etc. But the creeking has gotten slightly worse since then and when pulling off with the steering wheel stright it creeks then when it never did before? Ive been told it could be the steering rack? Any help or suggestions would be really helpful!

Thanks
