Gas shocks

Post by Duke of Cruel » Wed Jun 13, 2007 2:08 pm

Hi Guys,

I have just mounted a pair of 60k miles original volvo shocks on my 480, with some improvement. That means new shocks. So my question is where to buy 4 good cheap gas shocks, and what is good shoks for this car?

http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com is a good place to look.

Whatever you do, don't go for the Bilstein rear shocks though, as the hole the bolt goes through at the top is slightly too big and you'll get an annoying knocking noise from the rear before long. The Sachs ones in the link above are the same as the original Volvo OEM shocks, and fit perfectly.

I also had Bilstein gas shocks on the front (as I believe a lot of other members do), and they were fine - it's just the rears they should be avoided for.
