Wishbone bushes help
Hi dudes! What's up?
Just failed my MOT
Wishbone bushes are shot. Just taken a look and he's quite right. Both sides, the rearward ones on both sides.
Please tell me if these are replacable and if so, where from and how much and how to do?
I just need some easy to order before next saturday before the MOT re-test. I may replace the front-wards ones as well(all 4 bushes( depending on cost.
Please advise with your bestest turbo tips!
Cheers!

Just a bit to add there...
Mine were 16quid each, so £64 for four.
Removal via hammering a big flat bladed screw driver down one side and levering it out in one motion. Totally f**ks the bushes, but it doesn't matter.
Insertion...
Chamfer the lugs with a sharp knive to provide a lead in.
Line up the lugs with the recesses in the wishbone.
Seat the first edges of te bush with the palm of the hand (its split and will splay out a bit)
Squeeze in the rest of the way with (as chris says) a vice. I find alternating the side of squeeze, a few mm at a time quite sucessful
Of course getting the inboard bolts out is a read bastard. I replaced them with new volvo bolts at about 80p each.

I ache! Changing those bushes was a serious workout! It took a big vice and lots of arm / leg / everything work, But....
I have an MOT again!!
4 new front wishbone bushes, new offside outer cv boot and adjusted handbrake. Job done!
Use a blowtorch and can of WD40 to flamethrow the old ones out. This softens up the rubber and nylon outer and they just lever out with a screwdriver.
Round the lugs on the new ones, use a cut of scaffold / large socket + a washer in a vice to drive the new ones in.
A tip for driveshaft boots. Make sure you have a decent spring clip tool. Dont bother trying to use a screwdriver. Also support the shaft in a vice or bench. If the spring clip is open enough, the cv joint will just pull off without any hammering...
Thanks for you advice dudes...

Fair play dude, but..
Ummm, I believe these burn to produce hydrofluoric acid, which will disolve glass, and on your skin amputation is often the only result... so probably a little more risky than necessary.... Still, your obviously alright.pol wrote:
