Rear Shock Absorbers - common on all 400 series?

Does your 480 have tracking-problems? Does your car pull to one side? Or is your steering wheel vibrating? Read the posts in this category to find out what's going on.

Rear Shock Absorbers - common on all 400 series?

Post by oliverking » Fri Nov 10, 2006 11:03 am

Hi,

I need to replace the shocks on the rear of my 480. Does anyone know if the 480 shocks are the same as the 440/460 shocks? I know they share a lot of common components?

Many Thanks
King

there certainly are some common after market shocks for other 400 series models that fit the 480 ... but some are also 480 specific.

Is it standard Volvo shocks your looking for, or after market?

Hi,

I would like volvo genuine parts, but they tend to be a tad expensive! So I am looking for some cheaper alternatives.

Hi Oliver!

If you try eurocarparts.com they can sort you out with genuine Sachs/Boge which Volvo use. Also gsfcarparts.com sell these.

The only rear shockers which are a sod of a fit on the 400 series is the Bilstiens. They have this upper mount which is wider than the space Volvo made for the item!Derrr!I had to bend the tab on the bodywork out on mine, and didnt like doing it one little bit! These shocks are a mild improvement on Sachs Boge though and mine lasted really well at over 80000 miles!

Good Luck mate
