Help, im inept !

Post by mac star » Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:29 pm

Can anyone in Scotland help with this

I now have the rear calliper i need for my car, but having looked at it i have seen the limit of my abilities

I have no idea of how to fit it or what to do or even the tools to do this

can anyone either offer me a knock down price to fit it for me or a hand with fitting it so as to teach me a little bit about it

or better yet just the tools so i can make a complete mess of it ?

can you please call me 0131 476 4003 to let me know if you can help

thanks you

are you bringing it through on sat? one of us could maybe have a quick squint at it! i dont think its that bad a job as you dont have to remove the back plate (the bit thats usually rusted on) just undo the brake hose and then remove the 2 bolts that bolt the caliper on to the bracket?
i think thats the way it goes, anyone want to correct me?

is it a new caliper or one from the scrappy and are you changing the pads too mac?

Thats right murf, only problem you may have is if the car is fitted with the older type of handbrake cables with a steel bush on the end. This will rust solid to the caliper. Later ones had plastic bushes to stop this happening.
