Pads.

Hi people.
My last set of pads for the fronts have worn right down, so it's time for replacement! I'm running solid discs, so i just wondered what all those other solid users are using.
Not a problem on sourcing parts, i just wondered what everyone else was using, or what was good/bad. I do drive fairly quickly (in the right places of course), so something that's going to be fairly hard wearing.
Any advice appreciated!

Volvo.
When I first fitted my grooved discs I had FERODO pads.
Less 12K later they were gone - disintegrated when I removed them.
I then got the proper volvo pads, @ £35.
Not only do they perform better, but about 25k later they are still going strong, even with the grooved discs munching at them
Buying cheaper is a false economy.

I was a little hesitant in releasing the name of my current pads as i didn't want to offend anybodys current/previous choice, but these were Ferodo pads also.
Perhaps i'll look into Volvo ones then. If yours are running ok on grooved discs, then they should be fine on standard discs.

Halfords - £14 front pads. No complaints yet and they've been on for 9,000miles, automatic box too.

EBC Kevlar front pads with brembo discs, Lot's of stopping power.

Black Diamond Predator pads all round on my solids. Squeak a bit but clamp on like a horny Kowala bear. Can't say anything about lifetime - but they've run 8000 miles now and still look substantial - and I don't treat them well. EBC are also undeniably superb - wouldn't touch FERODO with a barge pole unless you're talking about drum brakes which they do very well.

TEXTAR orginal manafacturer supplier from GSF about £25 i think , also slotted groove discs from euro parts ATE for about £45 a pair solid disc only though.

you guys must be talking about cheap ferodo pads, i run the ds2500 on my 300bhp+ 850R with 302mm police spec discs and the are awsome. 0.5 friction coeff right upto 700c means you get bored tring to fade them and give up!

well when i say police spec, i mean the size rather than the spec of the disc (material etc). there are actually very easy to come by as after the police had em on their 850's, volvo started using them on the 70 series cars.
so upgrading the 850 is easy and you just buy the discs from the 70 series t5 cars, as well as a few other bits.
