Loud droning sound coming from ns front brakes

Post by catgroom » Wed Jul 06, 2005 10:46 pm

Im well pissed off with my braking situation now!!!!

A lot of effort from Mat and myself has gone into simply renewing brake fluid/discs/pads on the fornt.

So why oh why do these Brembo front discs and pads drone from the nearside front???

Grrr!

I've just done mine too mr Groom. Brembo discs and lucas pads or something standard like that. Almost bed in now and once I had the caliper bolts off it was an easy job. Are you sure it's all back together properly.... Can you describe the 'drone'?? Any judder felt when braking?

Hello Paulo!

The drone is a deep booming rotational sound (trippy eh?!!),it only comes from the nearside and yes its all back together spot-bollock.Bat did the installation so is amply qualified,Im also a mechanic by trade whos too poofy to get his hands dirty nowadays!!

One thing, both of my front calipers' pistons are partially corroded away-divvy me eh??!!!!!!!!!

Im assuming that this is not pushing the pad squarely onto the surface of the disc.But.....eh?????......why isnt the offside one doing this then???Theyre both worn in the same way!!!!

Fucking things!!!!!!!! :?

Yo Steve.

My previous 440 used to drone like that-then i found out it was my wheel bearing. Jacked it up and found there was a bit of play in the wheel. Might be worth checking that too. I found it 'droned' when turning certain ways...

Might be worth looking at?

Cheers Dannus!

I do beleive u r right!

Y'know this confirms my theory of "Buy one at 30-40k,sell it at 75k".

Both my Turbos have proved that this is when they have costed the least. Not really much of a surprise there!

Thx again ya bloody fellow yokel!!!!

well, i stick firmly to my theory of " buy one at +110k and keep it forever!"

all the major bits will have been changed by 110k, in my reckoning and it should last for another 100k after that :D

100k, huh, thats not even run in!!

i also say bearing, why? well my 850r does this when braking. is also does it when coasting around slow corners.

i have all new brakes and still get it, its also getting worse so that makes me even more sure.
