Handbrake cable too tight?

Post by Brasco » Sat Mar 19, 2005 9:14 am

Hi all,

My car almost sailed through its MOT, only problem is the handbrake. The rear offside cabel is too tight, so it's pulling out of the the securing clip near the back of the cable. This is causing the handbrake to lose all its reserve and so it's failing its brake test. What's the best may to slacken the cable to stop it pulling out of the securing clip?

Do you mean the securing clip on the caliper?

If so, Do you have a later type andbrake cable with a plastc end there?

It shouldn't pull through there no matter how tight it is, unless the plastic is damaged...

Ok. Sorted... put a couple of cable-ties round for good measure.
