I have an ES with solid disks on 14 inch wheels would an easy upgrade be to the vented disk? is it a simple swap or is worth the time and money going to some black dimonds etc? (just fronts)

From http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame- ... es.htm

Black Diamond Discs - Drilled Front
Solid disc. Diam = 259mm ; Thickness = 12mm

Only having 14inch rims i know I am limited. Does anybody have some turbo rims they want to sell??? I guess not so hard to get hold of.

Have a look here http://volvo480.northernscum.org.uk/for ... highlight=

As for the wheels i'm not sure what year they have to be from but i don't think it matters if they are from a turbo or not.

I am still a little confused, please don't be mad.

So the disk swap is not a problem going to vented should just be a simple swap, what about the calipers though? Any change needed there?

Sorry for my stupididty

You need new callipers and the calliper mounts, calliper mounts i beleive are a dealer part unless you can find some in a scrap yard.

I priced all this up myself from GSF not so long back and all in :

Vented disks, calipers, pads was going to be £137.00 but i couldnt find any calliper mount/carriers.

Hope this helps. :D

Front VENTED Discs P/N 09.5854.10 = http://www.brembo.com/CatalogoBrembo/De ... 09.5854.10

Front Non-Vented Discs P/N 08.5186.20 = http://www.brembo.com/CatalogoBrembo/De ... 08.5186.20

Rear Discs P/N 08.5237.10 = http://www.brembo.com/CatalogoBrembo/De ... 08.5237.10

Are you planning to race it or is it just a styling-matter to you? I mean, for what reason do you want to put vented discs under your 480?

There are a few reasons:

1) I would like to know that when i stamp on the brakes they will respond hard and fast(saftey)

2) I role with some huge fucking amercian footballers and it scares the shit out of me i try to stop the car at any speeds

3) A set of drilled disks would indeed look nice

4) and like any body an upgrade is always a good thing

And really just for peace of mind.

The disks and pads are to be replaced soon anyway so was just wondering if a cost afective way of upgrading was to go to the vented version of the disk or indeed just get some drilled solid ones.

P.S it would be nice to do track days and shit but the car is ten years old and i wouldn't like to brake her. Although we should have a 480 meet at the nurburgring.

Go find a 480turbo with vented discs and take the callipers and get some vented discs.

I can't wait to fit mine :D
