ABS Fault Problem
Hi,
Unfortunately, I have problem with ABS, too :/
I think, I have MKI or MKII version, because I don't have diagnostic box
My car doesn't have braking servo, so everything working on ABS pump
One year ago pump stoped working and fault icons ( (ABS) and (!) ) lights up
I try to check fault codes by connect pins in diagnostic port but i didn't see anything on dashboard
Pump is working, I connected it with jumper in relay box and it starts
I tryed to change relays, but still nothing
ABS sensors? Everyone have 1056-1100 ohm's
I don't have any idea what can i do more
i'm start thinking that the ABS control unit is fault, but i don't know how i can check it.
Pleas for yours help

Re: ABS Fault Problem
I sense a teves Mk2 unit, which would probably mean a dead accumulator

Re: ABS Fault Problem
When ((ABS)) and ((!)) are lighting up at the same time, it is most definitely a faulty accumulator. The scary part: in an ATE MkII system not the inlet vacuum but the accumulator provides pressure for the brake booster. So you are not only losing ABS, but brake boost as well...

Much cheaper replacement

To make sure it fits ask the seller for the size of the thread. It should be metric 13 (M13). Also not sure if this one works with the same range of pressure, but definitely worth asking. I have to buy one. One of these days...

Re: ABS Fault Problem
I have bought one yesterday. So let me try it and see if I works. Should be coming from China sometime in July, maybe sooner

Re: ABS Fault Problem
Hi,
balto8 did you receive ABS accumulator? Is it works?

Re: ABS Fault Problem
unless you get confirmation that another accumulator fits, then go with the part from Jaguar. It's expensive but it's a Teves part made in Germany - at least the one i got from them was - and it works perfectly. They should last around 8 years so if you intend on keeping the car it's not a bad investment really.
here's a guide: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=35151&p=209649&hil ... k2#p209649
and here's a video of someone diagnosing the problem on an old Ford with the same Teves unit. The car's different but the principle and warning light sequence are the same: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACCxUxKkryg
there has been some discussion of getting the old accumulators re-pressurised, and apparently there are a few places in the UK that will do it, but i'm not sure about the results of that.
good luck with whatever you choose to do...

Most late reply
ABS accumulator reference is WABCO STC2784
The used to be around for 80 euros + shippping. Have seen them for something around 150 now. Still far from the 450 that Jaguar asked for them a while back.
Anyway if you find a pressure accumulator bottle with a M13 male thread you can go for it. Not 100% sure of the thread size right now.
