Volvo 480 Club Europe

I'd love some help - I'm not at all knowledgeable about car gubbins.

The initial problem which got me looking under the car was the exhaust. I fixed a hole in it, only to find another as soon as I fixed it. And another as soon as I fixed that. All in totally different places.

Whereupon...

Looking under the car to examine the still slightly raspberry-blowing exhaust, I have an Apollo 13 moment: 'Houston, we appear to be venting something into space.'

A very fine cold aerosol coming out of a pinhole or two in the thingummy pictured below. I guess it's brake hyraulics? Or something absurdly not?

I wondered about fuel but didn't think I'd smelled any - however I maybe didn't try very hard.

Can anyone indicate how big a job this is to sort out?

Fixed! I paid a garage to do it as I didn't fancy crawling under the car and having petrol pour in my face: £34 all inclusive, which seemed fair enough!

good option and not a bad price, the fuel filter itself would have been more than half of that and I changed one a couple of years ago, the hardest "simple" job I have done, corroded fuel pipe couplings and lots of fuel in the face were among my woes.

It did all look really corroded, which was another thing which put me off. The old school mechanic at the garage seemed to have little regard for his boss (and warned me not to let him sell me stuff I didn't need!), but when he asked what his boss had charged me, even he seemed to think the final bill was very fair...
