When your under your car in the section where the two cables join the single cable (that general area) there is a long m8 screw thread with a 13 mm nut which retains the two handbrake cables. Tighten=clockwise. Shame you didnt post this last weekend, could have got a pic of mine for you lol!

There are a number of mechanical devices which increase sexual arousal, particularly in women. Chief among these is the Volvo 480 ;)

also to adjust the calipers , on the back of each caliper there an allun key about 4mm nut i think and behind that there is a recessed 3mm one that you wind in whilst having the hand barke on 1 click , wind in untill the wheel cant spin then free it back off a little and hand barke will be better.

cheers
140mph for £175 just test the brakes

i was going to say that it is most inportant to adjust the calipers as well as the cables.

Also ESTA you have a nut missing and this may cause you problems further down the lines

Yeh Esta normally a second one behind it to lock it off.

Caliper adjustment is really easy and incredibly effective. I know I have gone through the procedure throughly on here a few times so search "caliper" and search my posts and a guide will come up somewhere. If I ever get a 480 again (one could be in the pipeline :) ) I will do a photo guide to adjustment as I haven't got a 480 through an MOT without adjusting the calipers on the day of the test and new hand brake cables only ever seem to last a couple months!

I take it that if I adjust the cable and calipers it will sort out the MOT advisory I got for 'slight handbrake travel'?

Remeber.. the handbrake cable adjuster is actually only there to
account for cable stretch NOT pad wear. Once the cable is 'stretched in'
it actually wont stretch that much more in it's lifetime.

If you constantly adjust as the cable the handbrake lever arms at the
caliper will end up at an angle which is past the point of mechanical
advantage.

So....

Slacken handbrake cable... Adjust both rear calipers... retension handbrake cable... Perfect handbrake very time...
