Frozen handbrake time again
-4 yesterday evening. That seems to be the point where my handbrake freezes.
Last time it happened it seemed to unstick. I drove it home slowly and had a glowing brake disk when I got home... It was still stuck this morning
I know i'm not the only one... Name and shame your car!

on mine the cables and calipers were both less than a year old, and when it got stuck the cables were fine it was the actual caliper not sliding well on the 'pins'. haynes says emphatically not to grease them, so i didn't, just cleaned them up, put them back in and did a LOT of adjusting, too slack, too tight, the happy medium seemed difficult to find, and when i did it promptly failed the mot on handbrake effort anyway, but thankfully i let the garage deal with the adjustment to pass the test.

i have learned to leave a car on flat and in a gear. with 1 year old cables ! never thought a greased pins could do such damage - anyway I doubt a litlle about this grease: a caliper gets pretty hot when a disc is glowing red, but why it still doesnt release?
there's an error on our car (yet another): the handbrake cable coming from the bottom, so it makes an up-turn -> that's where the watter is collecting..
