Disks and Pads
Ok so the breaks on the Celeb need changing so I’m going to do a full set of disks and pads all round. Where is the best place to buy them and how much will they be?

sort of how long is a piece of string question Ad....
depends on what type of pads you want, what brand of disks, wether the disks come off easily or not etc etc....
to give an example though.....i went to a motor factors and bought the 'QH' brand discs (just oem parts) for the fronts, and same pads.....cost me 60 quid for all (pads/discs etc)
this was only for the old paris blue S so wasnt that bothered about getting a brand that would handle rough stopping from huge speeds etc.
but then it cost me a bloody fortune to get the caliper off one side, as the bolts had stuck in....ended up grinding them off, drilling retapping etc etc...
(if you remember....you need to get the calipers off to change the discs)
main tip is from now until you do it, soak the two 17mm(?) caliper studs in wd40 or similar everyday...it wont hurt, and can only help
oh....and have a bloody great breaker bar handy too, plus a damn good 17mm hex socket (not one of those oodlesided thingys)
good luck fella

I think rob was refering to the carriers, as the calipers have stainless steel pins/bolts which tend to be ok.
I've never struggled much (beyond requiring massive torque) but then i have a great socket set.
2.0 disks should be cheap enough. I'd use any old brand tbh, you don't drive like a nutter.

I used these in the rear. As for replacement. Was realy easy. To remove the disks first remove the brake calibers. For that hex/allen key and unscrew the sliderpins or I dont know the correct work in inglist. The rods, the caliber moves on. As sayd they are stainles steeland if they are lubricated and in working order, remowing these is easy. Then take of the caliber. Then unscrew the diskholding swrev and that is it. You may need a rubber hammer (a realy good tool in a toolbox) to get the old disk of. And but on new, new pads and calibers on, wola. that is it.

Well as stated I don’t leather the shit out of the Celeb so I don’t really need top whack vented disks or anything fancy like that. Was looking at a set of front pads on ebay here and a set of brand new Volvo rear disks here Will just have to buy a set of pads for the rear then and a set of disks for the front.
So would they be worth it?

Don't know! Bad link.
Best site I've found for 480 brake parts.
Try this part number PBD180D might help with brake fade.
Oh, and don't forget .5 brake fluid not the recomended 4 it makes a big difference. Should give you an extra 2-3seconds braking before the dreaded 480 fade.
** .4 should be adequate if over 40yrs old **
