I'm also interested in this;

Went out for a bit of a blast this evening once the roads got quiet and got the dreaded slippage when giving it full boost in 4/5th. Pulling away from standing, hill starts and all other gears seem fine at the mo but this can only be something thats going to get worse.

Eurocarparts are offering the sachs clutch kit for £120 inc vat, i read in some other posts about creating a hybrid renault laguna/clio+volvo clutch, if this is overkill for the normal rich mod then i'd probably just go with the sachs if thats whats recomended, i got the impression that as my car is a later model ('92) then it should have the 215mm clutch and therefore not slip with the rich mod so long as i buy sachs?

Final question is how much should i be expecting to pay to get it changed, haynes rates it three spanners which i would normally tackle but from other posts it seems like they may be a tad optomistic. Any of the other glasgow members recomend a friendly garage to try for a quote?

p.s. does anybody know about the clutch from a diesel 440/460 these might be stronger for towing etc? (or i could be way off the mark...)

Thanks for any info in advance

Owen, try Volvomax in the East End (actually they are almost out of it really).
Ross had his starter motor replaced by them- done properly and VERY cheap (something like £90 parts and labour)!

Here's their details:

Volvomax
23, Springboig Avenue, Glasgow, Lanarkshire G32 0JL
Tel: 0141 774 7770

Get a quote from them- you might be surprised.

If anyone's interested i phoned up volvomax, they quoted £205!!! :D cant go wrong at that price, shall be booking her in next week, cant stand not being able to get al the power down ;)

Anyone think of any jobs it would be prudent to do while they're in about the clutch with everything dismantled?
