Diagnosis Clutch!

Post by guitarcarfanatic » Mon Dec 12, 2005 12:21 pm

No this isn't some cheap Dick Van Dyke spin off! lol Now on the new black 480 the clutch is a bit stiff. I believe this is the reason it has snapped the bolt that holds the clutch cable bracket to the pedal inside the car. Now I dont want it to do it again so is there any way to get the clutch to be a bit lighter on the foot?(my red 480's clutch is amazingly light). I know it means that my clutch is most probably on the way out but is there a fix that will make it a bit lighter which isn't as expensive as a new clutch? I cant be arsed to go through the hassle of changing the clutch on the 480 as I dont get much time off work and there isnt much I can do in a single day!

Any ideas on whats causing it or any cheap fixes?

Clutch cables are a weak point of the 480, or so i remember. Thats likely to be the cause.

hi,

not sure if its relavent but some renault gtt owners 'convert' to a longer volvo pedal, so i'm wondering if it has a shorter arm, possibly a non turbo model version, and no extender bracket, or are they all the same on volvo's?

other than that it could be a badly routed/fitted cable so give that a check. also if its been stood then there may be some internal corrosion on the cable, which could also lead to a shorter life span :(
