DIY clutch replacement

Post by Iain » Tue Dec 09, 2003 6:20 pm

I've noticed several people refer to replacing the clutch as a swine of a job. What are the problems encountered?

Hi Iain
It is!
Altough the officoila volvotime for doing this is 5.7 hours.

1- you probably need 2 hours to get the startermotor and his heatshields
off. :cryhard:
2- you need to get the whole eninge out or you need to lower the
subframe enough to get the gearbox out. On n on airco or turbo it
is possible to get the gearbox out by tilting it out gently
3-you need good quality tools (no do it yurself tools) or ypu wiill ruin
the heads of several bolts.

If I take my time I do it in two weekends on the sidewalk lying on my back most of the time.
