Its ok as long as it doesn't get worse and makes the clutch slip. But since you have the gearbox out it would be smart to fix it now. Take the clutch of the flywheel and then take the flywheel of the engine. Have a look at the crankshaft oilseal Thats problebly where your leak is.

Yeah should be, pull out the old one and carefully hammer in the new onee. Grease it up with motoroil first.

The seals are not that easy to remove.

Best thing is to screw a self tapping screw into the flat part of the seal, then use a claw bar, or claw hammer to gently pry the seal out. It may take a few goes, but it's less messy than trying to mangle the seal with a screwdriver. IT's also less likely to scratch the part of the crankshaft the seal runs on (that would not do the new seal any good).

The splies are set so it is possible to be 180 degrees out. Turn the driveshaft half a turn and try again.

I've never had a problem with them. They slide on pretty easy. Maybe worth checking the splines haven't been dropped and bashed about?
Not sure about different sizes though. Good luck.

the shaft doesnt have to be orientated in any way whats so ever, exept obviously you want the holes to line up.
