Auto box whooping sound still!!!!!!!

Post by catgroom » Mon Jan 03, 2005 9:01 pm

Hi !

I bought my car with a whooping noise from the Auto box between 2nd and 3rd.Changed ATF and cured it.

It started again recently, when under more torque as modded ecu now.
So,I added one bottle of Lubegard (10 US quarts I think??!!!) in with my new ATF.The sound is still there.
Have I put in enough?

Cheers! :D

My gearbox doesn't whoop ;)

Umm, have no experience of lubeguard, is it a special form of ATF, or is it an addititive to the normal stuff? I.e. could you fill with just lubeguard (not suggesting this is a good idea!!)

One bottle is enough to treat 10 quarts.

I think you have used plenty :)

One bottle should do for two oil changes, since it's made for american cars (with huge auto boxes). Sorry I didn't think of that before.

One US quart is near enough a liter, 10 quarts = 9.4635295 liters

So when you drain out your fluid 3.5L aprrox goes back in, and 1/2 a bottle is still plenty.

An addative

It's a heat transfer agent mostly, a synthentic fluid made to have a high specific heat capacity. Thus it cools the torque converter more effectivley. It's also got a package of anitoxidants to help preseve the fluid as well.

Does what I says on the tin as well, I used it before, and it does reduce the temperature of the ATF.

@Ricky switch yer MSN on!!!!!!!!!!

@Chris,its an additive like Amsoil,Volvo/Saab dealers use it to shut up gearboxes!!!!!!!U can get engine oil additive too.It lengthens the life also of the fluid which it is added to!ATF/PAS fluid and axle stuff too for those lucky RWD conversion boys out there!!!!Where are you by the way???!!!

Thx for rapid response!!!!!!

I don't see why not. It may not be so effective as there is less chance of the heat getting out, but it can't hurt.

I'm liking the power steering idea. Last time I flushed mine it cured the whining.... But now it's back! Anyway...
