Sticky Gearbox

Post by shaughnessy10 » Tue Oct 12, 2004 9:53 pm

Seem to have a problem with my 480 Turbo Auto gearbox.

When changing from second to third it seems to almost go into neutral, hit 4000 revs, then find the gear. If you build up very slowly to the gear change it goes through okay.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Got quoted £1500 for a new gearbox if it's knackered...

Sticky Gearbox

Hi

If it was the kickdown cable would that not cause it to pull as well? When it comes out of 2nd gear it revs to about 4000 revs but does not pull at all. then it drops and starts pulling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I had a different problem on mine.

After the oil got hot, the box stopped pulling in any gear.

On mine the problem was old oil and a clogged oilfilter in the box.

I opened the box and cleaned the filter and chanched the oil and now it`s running fine.
