Both manual and automatic transmission are discussed here, including the clutch!

2.0L clutch kit

Post by nigel poustie » Wed Apr 06, 2022 12:53 pm

Does anyone know where I can get a new (not reconditioned) clutch kit for a 2.0l?

Hi Nigel

I can't comment on the clutch kit you refer to above. Also, I don't know whether you are looking for "standard" or still have plans for racing/performance activities with the car!

However, I changed the clutch on the previous 440 2.0i (exactly the same engine/gearbox set up as your 480) and fitted a National clutch, which proved absolutely fine. One on ebay currently here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203051299451 ... Sw-NtfCB1E

You may already have this information, but if it helps in your search, the original Volvo part number for the clutch kit for the 2.0i is 3270515 - 4.

Equivalents are:
National CK9380
Borg & Beck HK9607
LUK 621164600

Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks David.
Yes, I’d seen the National ones on eBay, the mechanic I’m using isn’t too keen on that, he believes it to be reconditioned and says the amount of work involved he wants to put something decent in. Ideally LUK but nowhere has them in stock.
I will still be doing track days but only occasionally so standard would be fine but it’s getting one!
He’s doing his own search too and a decision will be made tomorrow
Thanks

saves taking the box out

The clutch is only one job happening!
The subframe is coming out and being replaced, new wishbones, new shocks and springs!

That's fair enough Nigel, although I don't know why your mechanic should think it's reconditioned. The advert clearly states "new" and if it's reconditioned it must say so.

Agree about others perhaps being better quality though; when I did the 440 it was as hard to find one, hence going for the National one almost on a "beggars can't be choosers" basis. I have to say, though, it proved perfectly fine in use.

Good luck!

This one comes up when I search the part number...? (don't forget to search 'worldwide' for some things. ;)

It says it is for the Turbo D 440/460 though and has a different part number....appears to offer postage to UK.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284701817207 ... SwKFtiLxaW

I got another list, similar:
AUGROS
5651088Q Clutch Kit Clutch

BORG & BECK
HK9607 Clutch Kit Clutch

LuK
621 164 600 Clutch Kit Clutch

MOTAQUIP
VCK846 Clutch Kit Clutch

NK
134821 Clutch Kit Clutch

SACHS
3000 697 001 Clutch Kit Clutch

UNIPART
GCK815AF Clutch Kit Clutch

VALEO
801616 Clutch Kit Clutch

VOLVO
327051-5 Clutch Kit Clutch

Then I went further down the rabbit hole and found even more choice...

I'll just stop. I can't locate a LUK one! Sorry.
