when driving the car it has been observed that the gearbox has difficulty selecting gear when the oil is warm, it is worse when changing down, but still jerks a bit when going up. it also slips out of gear every now and then.
could this be a syncromesh issue?

any help would be greatly obliged

No, not since it has been with me, so that might be it
