Hello, after finding out that the spare driveshaft I have is wrong. I will replace the leaking bearing + bellows boot on my existing driveshaft. Left side.
I don't have a problem to remove/refit the spider/tripod nor to remove the old bearing, but how do I put on the new bearing without damaging it? Any tips? Do i need a press or similar? Tap it back on with a hammer, same way you got it off?
Any suggestions appreciated.

I think the Haynes manual on the Megane, which uses a similar set up, suggests drifting it in with a tube bearing on the inner race.

Thanks - I did the job a few weekends ago. In the end, I got a 30mm spanner and hammered the new bearing back onto the driveshaft using the spanner as an aid.
No leaks so far, but don't know if I damaged the bearing by doing so, causing a future premature failure... guess I'll find out
Kind Regards,
Stephen
