Clutch Adjustment?

Hello again folks (I feel like I'm hogging this place at the moment!)

My newly acquired money pit does start and go, but the clutch seems to bite awfully high, and even though the car appears to have done only 45k, I'm wondering if it might be time to fit a new clutch..

It will be some time (months in fact) before I get round to the mechanical side of things, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether there is any adjustment possible for the 480 (1.7 S) clutch system?

Again all ideas and suggestions gratefully received :)

pair of M6 nuts on the white ball thingy on end of clutch cable inside engine bay

make sure it has a wee bit o slack to avoid 'riding the clutch'

I'd edit picture and post with a circle but don't use any internet photo sites :-(

half way between blue air flow/temp sensor and bonnet catch plate on your photo

Thanks for that Alan - Is it a simple matter of trial and error to find an optimal adjustment, or can I be a bit more scientific than that?

If I have to go the new clutch route, what kind of costs am I likely to be looking at in the UK and where is the best place to go?

Cheers for any ideas.

Martin :D

wee bit o slack is about 2 - 3 mm when you pull the clutch cable inside the engine bay away from the arm towards the alternator

not sure if clutch cables are still avaialble, do a quick search on here as I am sure folk were having difficulty getting them but I got one no probs a few years back, maybe different now and different lengths are an option!!! so watch what you ask for
