creaky clutch/cable
hi....I have a new clutch cable but its very creaky and stiff...when the cable was fitted it was fine for a while then got stiff so i had it adjusted, but it remains stiff and really creaky....i fear it could be part of the clutch but could it be anything else i could check? it doesn't sound internal, just really noisy and annoying

Re: creaky clutch/cable
First locate eact source of the creak.
At first guess I would put it down to the connector between the pedal assembly and the cable. It is a tight/awkward job changing it and the nloc part is quite long , the temptation is to not fully tigten up hence the creak . I have changed one in 15 mins other times it has taken longer but if the mechanic was a bit tubby then it is a difficult job for them (upside down head at pedals job with small hands a nust )

Re: creaky clutch/cable
cheers Jim....so what exactly would i be looking for and where? obviously down by clutch pedal...will it be fairly obvious when down there? these kind of jobs are where being a woman can be a bonus...smaller hands!

Re: creaky clutch/cable
Hi Rachel
Does it happen all the time, or only happen when cold/hot? Really obvious, but have you tried locating the squeek (as Jim said), then applying a little 3in1 oil? Could be an easy 1 minute fix?

Re: creaky clutch/cable
Taking the driver's seat out can make life easier. I'm going to guess that the noise is coming from the nylon sleeve/bolt that the clutch pedal rotates on.
